Massive underground reservoir of natural hydrogen in Spain ‘could deliver the cheapest H₂ in the world’
Anglo-Spanish company Helios Aragón affirms access to a giant resource of naturally occurring hydrogen in northern Spain, claiming it could produce naturally occurring hydrogen from a giant underground reservoir in the foothills of the Pyrenees for €0.75 (US$0.82) per kilogram — about half the current cost of producing grey H₂ from unabated fossil gas. Even though the country´s strict anti-hydrocarbon exploration laws could complicate the process, there are strong grounds for optimism.
